Save and duplicate your layouts

Reuse an arrangement and understand save conflicts between browser sessions.

Know what a saved layout contains

A Map layout document stores its panel geometry, tab groups, tools, linked selections and supported widget settings. Saved chart navigation can also belong to the widget, while chart themes and instrument-specific drawings have separate account resources. A layout is therefore a reusable analysis configuration rather than a recording of all market data that happened to be visible when you saved it. Reopening it requests available evidence for its selections. Before making a large change, decide whether you want to update the current arrangement, duplicate it or begin a new personal layout.

Make a separate copy before experimenting

The layout picker in the Map heading separates Built-in pages and My layouts. Use its actions to manage the arrangement rather than confusing a tab-level Duplicate action with a whole-layout copy.

  1. Open the intended layout and confirm its name in the heading.
  2. Wait for any pending save to settle before taking it as your starting point.
  3. Open the layout picker and choose Duplicate to start from the current document.
  4. Confirm that the newly selected copy is the layout you intend to change.
  5. Use Rename where available to give the copy a purpose-specific name before modifying its tools or groups.

Use New layout for a different structure

New layout creates an independent personal arrangement when a preset's structure is no longer a useful starting point. Build it with Add tool and the grid editor, then read the saved indicator after structural and settings changes. A short descriptive name makes My layouts easier to navigate later. For example, separate a quick regular-session options comparison from a dense futures review rather than repeatedly rebuilding one layout for both. Naming expresses your workflow; it does not pin a session or prevent linked selections from changing unless those settings are actually saved.

Distinguish built-in customization from personal records

A built-in page can have an account-specific override and show Customized in the picker. That keeps the familiar preset identity while remembering your changes. Personal layouts appear under My layouts as separate saved records. Reset to built-in is offered for a customized built-in, while Delete is associated with personal records where available. These actions have different effects. If you want to keep a customized arrangement before restoring the reference preset, duplicate it first. Resetting a tool within a panel is also different from resetting the entire built-in layout.

Read save states instead of assuming every click persisted

Map reports loading, saving, saved, error or conflict states through its heading controls. A visible edit is immediate local feedback, while the saved state indicates that the server accepted the current record revision. If an error appears, keep the layout open and inspect the offered retry or resolution action. Changing browser size can redraw proportional geometry without constituting a user layout edit. When testing persistence, make an intentional tool or geometry change, wait for the saved indicator and reopen the same account-owned record rather than using a different similarly named copy.

Resolve competing browser edits carefully

Saved records use revisions so one browser does not silently overwrite changes made by another. A conflict means the version you edited differs from the current saved record. Note the layout and the changes you want to retain, then review the offered conflict-resolution choices. Reloading the saved record can replace the local arrangement, while retaining or saving a separate version should follow the explicit options shown. Repeated Save clicks with an outdated revision do not explain or resolve the disagreement. When several tabs are editing the same layout, finish one intended version before continuing elsewhere.

Verify defaults and related workspace records separately

The application also has general workspace records that can save or load a broader terminal setup, and the Map picker can offer Import workspace layout. An imported structure still needs valid tools and account access. Settings → Preferences can choose an account-owned Default workspace; selecting a Map layout during today's session is not automatically the same as changing that preference. To troubleshoot a missing layout, confirm the account, layout name, whether it is a built-in override or personal record and the last visible save state. Do not interpret a loaded configuration as proof of complete historical capture.
