Move and resize Map panels
Use the snap grid, corner handles and keyboard controls to arrange your layout.
Understand the unit you are moving
Map's layout editor arranges panel groups on a snap grid. A group can contain several tabs, so moving the group relocates the whole collection rather than changing the active widget's instrument or calculation. Enter Edit layout to reveal the editing affordances and the 24-column layout structure. The visible arrangement scales with the available workspace size. Begin by deciding which tools need more space and which can share tabs; resizing every panel independently can make an investigation harder to scan even when each individual chart becomes larger.
Move a group with the pointer
Use a deliberate drag after entering the editor. The group header has a movement threshold so ordinary tab, menu and control clicks can retain their normal actions.
- Open the Map layout and select Edit layout in the heading.
- Press on the group's header or move handle and drag until the movement preview begins.
- Move toward the intended grid location and inspect the snapped preview.
- Check how neighboring groups shift to make room before releasing.
- Release to commit the arrangement, then use Done editing when you have finished all intended changes.
Resize from the appropriate corner
Each group provides four corner resize handles. Drag the corner nearest the boundary you want to change; the opposite corner stays anchored while the preview adjusts the group's size. This makes it possible to enlarge a chart toward a free area without moving its far edge. Give numerical tables enough width for their important columns and give footprints enough height for readable price rows. A larger panel changes the display density, but it does not change the tool's requested trading date, source units or captured history.
Use keyboard movement for precise adjustments
The editor supports arrow keys to move a selected panel and Shift plus arrows to resize it. This is useful when a small grid adjustment is more predictable than another pointer drag. Confirm which group is selected before issuing several keystrokes. Keyboard editing is still a layout operation, so it affects the group rather than panning the active chart. To navigate the chart instead, leave the layout editor and use that chart's own plot or axis controls. Keeping these interaction modes separate prevents a layout correction from being mistaken for a data-navigation action.
Expect neighbors and display proportions to change
Moving a group tries available horizontal fits and can displace neighbors left or right, with bounded downward placement when necessary. The preview shows the consequence for the whole arrangement. All groups are fitted into the available workspace height using saved vertical proportions rather than arbitrarily assigning every panel a fixed minimum height. If a preview pushes a group farther down, the display can shrink to keep the arrangement in view. This changes screen geometry, not the saved market selections or the numerical values underlying a chart.
Cancel an edit that no longer matches your intent
Press Escape to discard an active gesture preview. Losing pointer focus, pointer cancellation, browser blur or a change in display geometry can also cancel the preview. Settle the browser's size before doing precise edits, especially when moving between monitors or opening side panels. If a gesture is cancelled, inspect the committed layout before trying again rather than assuming the last visible preview was saved. Ordinary window resizing scales the existing arrangement and should not be used as a substitute for a deliberate group move or resize.
Verify saving and recover from an awkward arrangement
After committing the changes, read the save indicator and check the result outside Edit layout. Click through each group's tabs to ensure important content still fits. If you need to inspect one dense chart temporarily, its tab menu can maximize the panel and later restore it without redesigning every group. For a badly altered preset, consider duplicating the current work before using Reset to built-in where available. A save conflict means another saved revision exists; review that state before repeating edits. Include the layout name, browser size and precise gesture in a support report about unexpected movement.
