Add and configure chart indicators

Use the native chooser and retain independent settings for each indicator.

Begin with a valid base chart

An indicator interprets a particular set of inputs. Confirm that the OHLC chart itself has the correct instrument, interval and observations before adding studies. Native studies operate on available bars, while OrderMap host indicators can require native futures captures or separate options analytics. A saved indicator can remain selected while its required input is unavailable. This is a meaningful state rather than a reason to draw an invented substitute. The indicator chooser and applied list let you distinguish a configured calculation from a currently available result.

Add and reopen a study

Indicators opens a two-column chooser, with compact native defaults and OrderMap entries. Search includes names, categories, descriptions and relevant source symbols; narrow frames can stack the two families.

  1. Open Indicators from the native chart toolbar.
  2. Search for or select the study you need, then inspect its placement on the chart.
  3. Use the applied-indicator list's settings control to reopen that indicator directly.
  4. Adjust supported inputs such as period, source, plot colors or display visibility.
  5. Collapse the applied list if you need more plot room; that choice is saved per widget and does not remove the indicators.

Understand the native study families

Native choices include SMA, EMA, MA, bar-volume VWAP, RSI, MACD and Bollinger Bands. MA supports SMA, EMA, Wilder RMA and newest-weighted WMA methods. Period and source choices affect the calculation, while color, opacity, thickness and pattern affect presentation. A moving average over a short interval answers a different smoothing question from the same period over hourly candles. Inspect the exact hovered observation when reading a plotted value. Missing source points remain gaps rather than being silently promoted into a continuous market record.

Choose the correct pane and units

A study can use the main chart, an existing pane or a separately owned indicator pane according to its settings. Keep non-price measures on suitable scales. Captured delta and CVD are execution quantities, while RSI and MACD have their own study meanings; they should not be interpreted as price candles simply because they appear near the chart. Moving a study's presentation or changing its plot appearance preserves the underlying calculated history. When a pane seems empty, check its visibility and scale before removing the indicator or changing the instrument.

Match futures indicators to native evidence

OrderMap's futures indicators include buy/sell aggression, large executions, possible absorption, footprint imbalance, captured delta, captured CVD, captured session VWAP, current book imbalance and observed liquidity changes. They require matching dated-contract native captures. Unknown direction is excluded from classified aggression and delta. A summarized tape row cannot establish an individual large execution, and historical anonymous heatmap spans cannot establish exact replenishment. Read each indicator's detail and coverage instead of assuming that a valid OHLC series automatically supplies all nine forms of evidence.

Keep options analytics distinct from the candle instrument

Options analytics can add net premium, net volume, trade count, premium drift, hedging delta and several exposure measures using their own eligible underlying, session, period and filters. These inputs can differ from the chart's candle series. Exposure levels mapped onto a future also retain their source-underlying identity and dated references. Native bar-volume VWAP is another separate calculation: it weights known bar-source prices by known bar volume, while captured session VWAP needs eligible execution-price evidence. An index with no observed volume cannot supply either measure by borrowing an unrelated futures volume.

Diagnose a selected indicator that has no result

Reopen that indicator's settings and read the exact unavailable or partial explanation. Confirm period, source, pane, visibility and required instrument identity. For a volume study, check whether the asset actually has known volume. For a native futures study, inspect the contract and capture coverage. For options analytics, compare the chosen source underlying and date. Remove or disable a study through its applied controls when you no longer need it. Include its exact name and settings in a support report; 'the indicator is blank' without its input scope does not identify which calculation failed.
